Storm Peak launch on Mt. Werner above the Steamboat ski area, 10,350 ft, NW-facing. The pin sits on the launch the XC flights use (Wilder Adventures launch 1104), not the 7,600 ft registry point. Storm Peak HG/PG Association guide: acceptable 275-320 degrees, HG ideal 295-310; PG 0 min, 10 ideal, 15 max with a 5 mph gust factor and gusts under 20; HG 5 min, 15 ideal, 20 max with gusts under 25; wind at the airport must stay under 15 mph. A southerly component is common here and poor (rotor off the trees and ridges, and the gust factor climbs fast). H4/P4, or H3/P3 with 20 hours or 20 flights this season plus a check-off flight; HA and TUR skills. An SPHGA guide pilot must be present to launch, so contact one at least 12 hours ahead. Launch is bounded by trees and a chairlift (50 ft no-fly buffer). LZs: Whistler Park (main) and Haymaker (alternate). The Thunderhead launch (9,100 ft, 260-280) is special permission only.
