Ceiling · Paragliding
≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23
Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
West-facing thermal/XC launch (~7,150 ft) between Lakeview and Abert Rim, part of the Lakeview suite of sites. Best in light-to-moderate westerlies, SW through NW and ideally straight-in W; more southerly or northerly flow goes cross. Typical pattern is a light southerly morning building and swinging west by afternoon, so midday into mid-afternoon is the window. Big XC potential, but a high, thin-air launch with strong midday thermals and lee rotor if the wind backs south. Intermediate-and-up; check road access and local Lakeview club guidance first.
