Little Yancey (a.k.a. "Little Yancy") near Red Oak, OK — Hang-2 rated, paraglider-friendly with a large clear LZ, accessed via "Butch's Back Yard," managed by Buffalo Mountain Flyers (USHPA chapter) in the Ouachita/Kiamichi Mountains. ACCESS WARNING: Buffalo Mountain Flyers now lists this launch as PERMANENTLY CLOSED — pilots flying closed sites "may be arrested for TRESPASSING by the landowners." Verify current status with BMF/site coordinator before any visit. Wind window faces SE-S-SW per the orientation hint; works best on a southerly/SSW (~190-225) flow. Direction/speed numbers are inferred from the club's sibling SE/S-facing Heavener launch in the same range (ideal ~7 mph, max usable ~15 mph, peak gusts ~18 mph; rotor forms at the headwall on cross/NW-component flow), so treat as medium confidence rather than a Little-Yancey-specific guide. HAZARDS: evening winds commonly build from ~10 mph to as high as 30 mph near dark — land early; when winds aloft (2000 ft MSL+) exceed 15 mph, expect wave rotor and unexplained non-thermic turbulence off the Kiamichi Mountains south of launch, which can collapse paragliders. Best for P2/H2-and-up in smooth morning, evening, or overcast conditions; avoid strong or gusty/cross days.
