The wind must blow from within this arc. Direction is the same for both wings.
Ideal speed
8–15 mph
Ceiling · Paragliding
≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23
Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Coastal ridge-soaring hill just SE of Cayucos, managed by SLOSA. Launches in almost any direction except east, with SW through NNW the working band and S/N going cross. H3/P3 minimum (novices only with an instructor); watch for lee-side rotor near the summit and turbulent, thermal-blocked air over the beach even when launch feels calm. PG lands on the beach south of the last house, HG on the Hwy 1 pullout across from Toro Creek Rd - stay clear of the private ranch south of the hill.
